Before the skincare routine, you should know why it is important for us. Skin is the largest protective layer of our body. It protects us from directly contacting with any type of infectious things. At the very first level our skin fight from any outer problem then our body reacts.
This is the main reason we should take care of it. Our skin indicates many inner problems if we are not fine inside. Our largest sense Organ-SKIN is flexible armor that keeps inner more sensitive layer away from harmful chemicals, microbes, and harmful rays.

Now come to the problems that can be generated if we avoid proper cleaning.
It is a condition of the skin that results in the red and inflamed skin. This is painful and sometimes itchy. It may result in swollen skin and results in yellow and white discharge. This is what commonly called pimples or zits.
Blackheads on the skin are not painful at the primary stage but most annoying. It affects your complexion too. When it grows and comes to its second and 3rd stage it looks like pimples. But more dirty and black.
Blackheads forms when dead skin, excess oil and bacteria buildup near the tiny open pores. These garbage deposit near the skin pores tends pores to be opened and getting bigger and bigger.
Whiteheads are also forms due to deposition of excess oil, dead skin, and bacteria. But the difference between blackhead and Whitehead is that this deposition is blocking the pores and forms whiteheads and when this deposition is inside the pores, it forms blackheads.
- Skin darkening
This is a common problem that can occur if you don’t clean your skin properly. Oils and dirt collecting near the dirty part of the skin. And makes is look more dark and dirty.
- Dull skin
Everyone wants bright and glowing skin. But for the glowing skin, you have to take care of your skin properly.
Lack of proper skincare routine results in different skin problems on different skin type. Before starting cleaning and grooming you should take a proper look to your skin. And observe the exact type of your skin. I am making this even easier to find your skin type.
- Oily Skin– You can easily identify oily skin by seeing and touching. Oily skin is highly prone to skin problems like pimples and blackheads. It looks oily and shiny and the area near the nose and chins can be seen stickier.
- Dry Skin– This skin type is most sensitive to weathers and even sunlight. Dry skin lacks natural oils and mainly damaged. It will become dry and dead in winters and in summer it will more prone to get infected and rashes.
- Combination skin– in my view this combination skin type is worse than the other two. It is dry in some spots like cheeks and seems oily at some spots like nose, chin, and forehead. This skin needs more care in my views. As it should have to follow both oily and dry skincare routine.
- Normal Skin– This is a skin type that is neither too oily nor too dry. It is just normal as skin should be.
After taking a close look at your skin types and condition, now it is time to start the very first step of skincare routine. It is cleaning your face and some of you asked how to clean face naturally? And how to clean face at home?
This is nothing new, everyone washes their face at home. But the thing you should take care is that the product you are using is good for you or not. These steps are not only for females but also for those who keep asking me – how to clean face for men?
Cleaning is the process that is necessary for both men and women. Identify your skin type and start the further skincare routine.
It is time to clean your skin by washing it using the right face wash. Do not apply any soap or body wash on your face, you use for bathing. And if you feel dryness or oily body skin then try to change your soap.
Morning cleaning process for all types of skin
For Oily Skin
If your skin is highly oily then use a foam-based oil-free cleanser. Do not rub too much even if your skin is too oily. Rubbing too much may damage your skin and can cause redness.
Use plenty of warm water to rinse your skin. I will recommend you to use astringents and tonner. If you are applying astringents, it may feel a little irritated. Do not worry it will remove all excess unwanted oil from your skin.
Astringents and face toner are not only useful in removing excess oil but also tightens large pores. But do not apply your tonner more than 2 times a day. It may cause a lack of natural essential skin oil. This will not be good for you as your skin may start seems dull and dead.
Apply toner or astringents using cotton. Just dab it all over your face using cotton. Do not rub it on your skin. After applying just pat dry your skin.
For Dry Skin
Dry skin is mostly very thin and easily can be damaged. You should take a bit more care of your skin if it is dry. Dry skin looks reddish, damaged and dull. This skin type is more prone to infections.
Use mild cleanses that should be fragrance and alcohol-free. You should buy your skin and hair care products after reading ingredients and instructions written on it. Dry skin can also be washed with warm water.
Be careful if you are using warm water. It should not be hot as it may damage your skin. You can use normal water if don`t want to use warm water.
You can try exfoliating once a week. It will help you to get rid of the flaky dry skin. And your skin will look cleaner and softer.
Choosing the right product or combination skin type is a bit tougher. The best way to choose your product by using it. If your face wash/cleanser or soap makes your skin feel dry or even oily, it is not a right product for your skin type. Try another one.
Don`t just grab whatever others recommending. And this does not mean that you have to buy fancy or expensive products. You just to be a bit smarter while picking your face wash or other skincare products.
If your skin is sensitive then try different products may harm it even more. You should use herbal skin care products. Or you can use natural things for the cleaning process of your skin. Try not to use products that have Alcohol, acids or fragrance, this will irritate your skin.
Congratulations! You have just a perfect skin type. You can use whatever you want to use. But be careful using whatever doesn`t mean that you can use everything on your skin.
Avoid applying soaps like lifebuoy or Dettol. Try to scrub your face only when needed (once a week is recommended). Do not wash your face too much as it may make your skin dry or sensitive.
Too much of anything is harmful. Don’t clean or scrub too much even your skin is normal. Try to use natural things from time to time (like Milk, Aloe Vera, Lemon, Papaya, etc.).
There are many people out there confused with the use of toner and moisturizer. Most of you don`t know when to use -toner before or after moisturizer. You should apply your skin toner after face wash.
Now come to another question- when to use toner day or night? My answer is, you should use toner both the time after washing. But if your skin is dry avoid applying too much of it.
You should buy alcohol-free toner if your skin is dry, as it will remove all oils from your sink and your skin will become even drier. Toner works best for oily skin type. Norman skin and combination skin type can also use toner twice a day.
Now coming to the next step of daily skincare – Moisturizing. If your skin is too oily and you are thinking this step is not for you, then you are absolutely wrong. Your skin needs to be moisturized too.
All skin type needs to me moisturize after washing. No matters whether it is dry or not. Try to find lightweight and oil-free moisturizer if your skin is oily and acne-prone.
If you are too confused about- should I moisturize at night or morning, then let be clear that you should moisturize your skin both the time. After washing your skin you should moisturize it.
- Do the patch test before applying any new moisturizer.
- Apply your moisturizer on damp skin after washing.
- Gently massage it on your skin.
- Do not rub it too harsh.
- Avoid using Oil in place of a moisturizer in the morning.
- Buy a moisturizer with SPF.
Don’t get confused with how to use toner and moisturizer. Apply moisturizer after tonner on damp skin. If you are not using a toner then apply moisturizer on the wet skin just after washing. Apply toner after washing your skin and pat dry it.
Benefits of using a moisturizer
- Moisturizer reduces the chance of skin problems
- It helps skin stay young
- Moisturizing fights wrinkles
Now it is a term to apply sunscreen on to your skin. Your moisturizer may contain sunscreen in it. But this step is really important. Applying sunscreen is one of the important steps of the daily skincare routine.
It is better to apply sunscreen after moisturizer as 50% of skin problems caused due to sun exposer. Even if you are not going out, you should apply at least once. But if you have to go out in the sun exposer try to repeat your sunscreen application after 2 hours.
Try to buy sunscreen with a broad spectrum of SPF, at least SPF 30. Wear it every day even if it is not a sunny day.
Nighttime skincare routine for oily skin/dry/normal or combination skin.
After all day work, you are home again and it is time to clean your skin before bed. After following these simple daily skincare routine steps, you should follow the night skincare routine too.
Your skin will look fresh and healthy from the morning tonight. The main thing is to follow the skincare routine steps as I have given. Do this daily skincare routine at home.
Removing makeups from your skin is important before doing anything. You should remove all makeups as soon as possible. Avoid wearing heavy makeups for long.
Now let`s talk about how to remove makeup without using makeup remover. You can use coconut or Olive oil for removing your makeup. Do some people keep asking me how to remove makeup with Vaseline? The way of removing makeup using Vaseline is the same as that of using oil.
- Apply Coconut/olive oil or Vaseline on your skin
- Massage gently
- Massage for at least 3-5 minutes
- Do not rub too much
- Take cotton balls or cotton pads
- Wipeout your face
- You can repeat these steps once again if needed
You can wash your face using face wash only 2 times a day. Avoid washing your skin too much even if it is oily. If your skin is dry then you can avoid washing your skin second times using face wash or soap.
You can use face clean cream or even cleansing milk. This will help you not to lose excess oil from your skin. After cleaning you can gently wipe your skin and wash with normal water.
If your skin is normal, oily or even combination skin type, you can wash your face using mild face wash. Follow the instruction from day skincare, I have given above.
You can avoid this step if you feel it is not necessary. I will recommend applying toner at night only if your skin is highly only. It will remove all extra oils from your skin.
How often should you use toner on your face?
Toner is the best product for those whose skin is acne-prone or highly oily. But is not a medicine, you should not use too much of it. Using too much toner may make your skin dry.
If you have dry skin, you can avoid applying toner at night or you can use rose water or any homemade skin toner.
Some dermatologists suggest applying spot treatment as close as possible to your skin. It helps dries up excess oil and kill harmful bacteria from your problem spots. This is a must-do step for oily skin and acne prone skin. It will give you proper treatment and you will see the desired result in only 1-2 weeks.
I have included skin serum in my night care routine. The main reason behind this is the Vitamin C. Serums consists of Vitamin c in it which performs a variety of function within the skin. It helps in stimulating new collagen, reduce fine lines and wrinkles.
It is rich in antioxidant properties which help in protecting skin from environmental pollutions. Serums are really needed for your skincare as our skin doesn`t produce vitamin C its own.
You should opt for the serum which is less dense and lightweight.
This is the step most of us avoid doing. But it is necessary to take care of the skin near your eyes too. Otherwise, it will start looking dark, dull and dead as compare to skins on other parts.
You should not use all creams near your eyes. And as we cannot use all types of skin products near our eyes. It is important to apply eye cream at least at night.
You can apply eye cream 2 times a day, but if it`s is not possible then apply it at least once at night. It will help reduce wrinkles and fine lines near your eyes.
Nothing works like a magic, you have applied it regularly for the desired result. if you have dark circles, then do apply eye cream along with proper skincare you can check my way to fight dark circles by clicking here.
How to moisturizing skin overnight?
But try to avoid applying too much moisturizer to your skin if your skin is the normal or oily type. It will close your skin pores and may worsen an acne problem. Try to use products that are light on your skin and doesn`t suffocate your skin. Your skin needs to breathe.
- You can skip moisturizing at night if you want to apply night cream. Night cream does the same as a moisturizer. It gives nourishment to your skin and keeps it hydrated. You will feel your skin more softly and be glowing if regular follow these steps.
- You can also use oils to moisturize your skin. Try to apply essential oils or you can just apply Olive oil to your skin. But do not use oil as a moisturizer daily. It will turn your skin look a bit darker. And if your skin is already moisturized it will cause acne and blackhead problems.
